Piled on the landing’s shelves were frozen meat patties, vegetables, fruit, and more potato products than I could count. Whenever I got tired of the job or discouraged by a cake collapsing or bread dough rising too fast, I’d step into the cold for a dose of the blue-white I came all this way for. I called it the Most Beautiful Freezer in the World.
